The Division of Politics, Administration & Justice (PAJ) is comprised of the Departments of Criminal Justice (CJ) and Political Science (PS) which also includes the Public Administration Program (PA). Combined, PAJ offers five degree programs: three BA and two MA, as well as six minors, enrolling roughly 2,100 students. Our mission is two-fold: to serve our campus community and to prepare our majors for public service themselves.

Public Administration

Public Administration trains people to become managers in government and nonprofit organizations. It draws on literature from political science, psychology, economics, business and sociology to provide students with skills that will make them more effective public sector leaders. It is concerned with the role played by public employees in policy-making, planning, personnel management, taxation and finance, and in responding to the needs and problems of communities and the nation.

Criminal Justice

As the faculty of the Department of Criminal Justice at California State University, Fullerton, we believe education is transformational. The future of criminal justice requires actors who are problem-solvers, communicators, and critical thinkers. Our curriculum teaches these skills, challenging and inspiring future leaders and community members through comprehensive and critical perspectives on crime, policy, and justice.

Political Science

Political Science is the study of people's behavior as it relates to power and public organizations. The discipline is normally divided into six subfields:

  1. Political philosophy
  2. American politics
  3. Public administration
  4. Public law
  5. Comparative government
  6. International politics
